Google releases ADK for Kotlin and Android

Historical record This story connects to a documented entry in the Agentic History timeline. As agent SDKs proliferate, platforms compete on orchestration, tooling, and state management rather than just model access.

Google announced version 0.1.0 of Agent Development Kit (ADK) for Kotlin and a specialized ADK for Android library. Google described ADK as an open-source framework for building and running AI agents.

Google said the Android library enables on-device agents using local LLMs such as Gemini Nano, with the ability to bridge to cloud models. Google described orchestration features for coordinating cloud and on-device subagents.

Google also described tooling, state management, and execution controls.
