Meta CTO says agents do the work now

Yahoo Finance Singapore, citing The Wall Street Journal, reported Meta laid off 8,000 employees. The report said Meta began tracking remaining employees’ mouse clicks and keystrokes to train AI models, and that a petition demanded it stop collecting such data.

The report quoted Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth saying, “Our agents primarily do the work. Our role is to direct, review and help them improve.”

The report said the layoffs were meant to offset a $145 billion investment in AI infrastructure this year. It also said Meta canceled 6,000 open positions and reassigned 7,000 employees to AI-focused roles.
